The Secret Garden Bloomed & Bloomed & Every Morning Revealed New Miracles: The Secret Garden 420

“And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles.”
― Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

This garden isn't going to remain a secret much longer, you're guna need more basil for that pesto girl!! This weeks CannaBiz feature i s one of my favourite Ed Makers around atm, The Secret Garden 420. Not only do I love her for her big heart & effective edibles but because she's one of the few people making their eds savoury

HALLEULEJAH SOME SAVOURY EDIBLES. I don't know about you but I cant handle all the sugar out there. Can we get some more eds for the diabetic, the person who doesn't have a sweet tooth, or person who's pain is triggered by sugar (that last persons is me). When I first tried this woman's signature product the Hemp Pesto I lost my mind and genuinely danced around the kitchen from the joy inspired by the flavours. So without further adieu let's get chatting to this badass in the kitchen.

When/how were you introduced to Cannabis? What did you know about it before?

I was around 15 when I had my first try of a spliff. I was raised in a very strict religious family (Jehovah’s Witness) so anything involving ‘drugs’ was very taboo and not really talked about. I didn’t know anything really apart from what you’d hear at school, I didn’t even realise it got you high tbh! We were told not to touch drugs and not to associate with people who use them. I’ve always been a bit of a rebel and wanted to try anything I wasn’t supposed to. I became friends with a couple of guys my age and blagged that ‘yeh of course I’ve smoked weed before’. One day we were hanging out in his garden and I was handed this long white paper thing and and asked to spark it. I happily obliged and lit it upside down! I ended up having a couple of tokes but didn’t really get the appeal at first. I didn’t think much of it until later that night I got into a lot of trouble with the ‘elders’ and my parents and was publicly shamed at the church for using cannabis! I have also been shamed publicly for having sex before marriage.  I left the church when I was 22.

How long have you been using cannabis for? How regularly do you use cannabis?

On and off I have been using cannabis for about 16 years but regularly since 2015. Every day. As a minimum, an evening smoke but if I’m able to I will get high all day!

Why do you use cannabis? How do you feel it benefits your mind, body and soul?

I started using cannabis to help alleviate my depression and CPSTD, it helps give me moments where I’m able to relax and switch off. I’ve also recently been diagnosed with arthritis and canna edibles have been a lifesaver in helping to reduce my pain levels. I feel like when I medicate I am able to take life at a slower pace and it definitely makes me a calmer and more patient mum. Being high generally makes my life more enjoyable, one of the best parts of my day is going into the garden for a smoke and enjoying mother earth.

What mode(s) of administration do you favor? Are you a purist, use a herbal blend or tobacco?

I love a bong and edibles but I will always favour smoking a spliff. I love the ritual of getting my tin, opening it and getting out my tray, picking my papers, choosing which grinder to use, etc. I have great memories of rolling and smoking with friends and it’s a really social thing for me too.   I generally smoke pures but I occasionally use a beautiful herbal smoking blend from Knotaproblem

Do you use CBD products?

I’ve occasionally used CBD but it’s something I would like to explore more. I’ve heard lots of good things about CBD creams for pain. I have only used CBD drops from Good Hemp, CBD Bath bombs from The Hempress and Coffee from you.

Who are your favourite Cannabis Brands?

This is a tough question because so many come to mind!  I recently fallen in love with the bath bombs from The Hempress, one of the best baths I’ve had was with Sleepy Alien. Knotaproblem has been really supportive and I think it’s great to have an alternative to tobacco! I adore the artwork from VeryGreenMegan and Buddy that I have on my walls. 420petitefleur has some awesome stash jars..I love what Women of Weed are doing for  women in the community. I think it’s so important to support small businesses and even more so if they’re part of the canna community.

How do your family & friends feel about cannabis or your use of cannabis?

Not all of my family and friends know about my cannabis use but the ones that do know are really supportive. My mum has been amazing. I told her about a year ago that I had been using cannabis for a long time, she had no idea I had been using it at all and was surprised but impressed.  Now she has seen how much it has helped me she even used some THC oil I made for  tooth ache! She said it was the best nights sleep she ever had and her toothache went. I even had a smoke in her garden a few weeks ago and she sat and chatted with me. I could never imagined that happening when I was a ‘naughty teenager’! My husband is tee total but he’s very pro cannabis and looks after the children when he’s home so I can pop out for a smoke!.

What is your business? What do you sell/create/distrubute?

I’m a one woman business called The Secret Garden. I create, make and sell vegan THC edibles that are good for your body and soul. I’m known for my banging 250mg pesto which is made with home grown basil.

What inspired you to start your business? What makes it unique to you?

I had never really heard of a canna community until I was browsing on a Facebook group during lockdown and someone mentioned an edible maker on Instagram who posted out vegan edibles, so I headed over and made an order. From that I found pages like Grim Reefer Edibles and Buddy Mary, women who are inspirational in what they are doing to end the stigma attached to cannabis use. It opened my eyes to a huge community that I didn’t realise existed and I wanted to be more a part of it but couldn’t so much on my personal Instagram. I had been thinking about starting an edibles business for a while. I studied Advanced Herbalism and Holistic Nutrition and since then have always wanted to do something where I could help people and make food so making cannabis edibles made sense to me! I had always said to friends that it was harder to buy savoury edibles and I couldn’t be the only person who wanted them. I put a lot of thought in to what I wanted to make and asked a few people if they’d eat infused pesto and everyone said yes! I make infused oils too and have lots of ideas for new products. I use plants from The Secret Garden is my recipes and everything I make is infused with THC and love.

Where can we find your business? Where can I direct traffic?

You can find me on Instagram @the.secret.garden_420

What do you hope to achieve with your business in the future?

Long term, I would love The Secret Garden to be a known name in the canna community for awesome edibles and making people smile.  It would be great to collaborate with some different brands and businesses and grow my secret garden! Short term I'm releasing my Halloween Gift Boxes next month. This is my first ever gift box I have created. There will only be 13 made. Each box will contain a 'Poltergeist Pumpkin Pesto', Spooky Rocky Road, a Protection Crystal and other treats!

I definitely need to get my hands on one of those Halloween boxes!! You pesto is obscene and so it the garlic oil! Oh and definitely get a cup of the THCTea!! wow! That knocked me right out! Thank you for taking the time to share your story and your business with us. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you!
